"Main St., Calais, Me. 57k." View of the St. Croix Club and Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F) Hall at the corner of Main and North Streets in Calais, Maine. This view is of the building when when it was occupied by the Calais National Bank. The electric trolleys which ran on both North Street and Main Street in front of the St. Croix / I.O.O.F began service on July 4, 1894. The building also, at one time, was the home of the Calais National Bank. The bank printed $1,360,540 dollars-worth of national currency. This national bank opened in 1865 and stopped printing money in 1934, which equals a 70 year printing period. That is a long operational period for a national bank. During its life, The Calais National Bank of Calais issued 11 different types and denominations of national currency.
