[included in the exhibit "Hancock County Through Eastern's Eye"] LB2007.1.111535 Sue's Ol Curiosity Shop or Shipyard Store, Sullivan, ME. Robert Gordon and his sons, Simpson and Paul, built the Old Stone Store between 1860 and 1864 with granite from Gordon's quarry in West Sullivan. It was originally built to store salt used to preserve fish. The store was once a ship chandlery and has often been vacant. In the mid 1920s Susie Gordon established "Sue's Ol Curiosity Shop," pictured here, which she operated until about 1940. The building is one of the most photographed landmarks in Sullivan. It is listed on National Register of Historic Places. Credit: Gerald Gordon, Sullivan-Sorrento Historical Society
