This a is a view looking west along Union Street in Searsport, taking in a row of three mid-19th century Carpenter Gothic cottages set back from a line of towering elm trees. Townhouse Hill, including the back of the brick Town House and front corner of the First Congregational Church are visible in the distance at the end of the street. The three houses are basically similar, featuring the steep roofs, deep overhangs and whimsical, scroll-sawn vergeboard ornamentation characteristic of Carpenter Gothic domestic architecture.
