Searsport, Maine 205
This image shows a handsome, late 18th or early 19th-century house, large for its time, with two chimneys---indicating a central hall interior plan. An attached barn at the back identifies it as a farmhouse for at least some of its history. It sits amongst a few elm trees on an open rise overlooking part of Searsport. An open front door and windows and shutters and shades drawn suggest a warm day. The size of the house and its two chimneys, indicating a center hall floor plan, and roomy attic, must have been built by a person- likely a farmer given the inland location- of some wealth for the time and place.
