This is a view of the still dirt Steamboat Avenue looking south toward the bay. The area to the left slopes down to the Mill Stream. A row of mid-19th century houses stand on the right. A set of wooden steps mounts the bank on the right; this construction, and the wooden sidewalk and path, was characteristic of 19th and early 20th century Maine streetscapes.
