Belfast, Maine, Residence, House,1951 This house on the corner of Pearl Street and Church Street is an early home of James Patterson White (prior to construction of the house at the "Foot of the Square" in 1840). The well-known "Big Elm", planted by White is at the rear of this property. His lot occupied Pearl Street from Church Street to Court Street. White, a native of Belfast and a successful businessman, was born in 1800 and died in 1879. He served as Belfast's Mayor from 1861 to 1863 and a state senator from 1862 to 1863.
