"[Kimball House Cottage, Mount Desert Island/ Northeast Harbor 430. 6-14-09]" Kimball House Cottage, Buildings, Street Scene "View looking east along what was called Cottage Street (also Front Street in some cases). It is now called South Shore Road. The large building at the end is the Kimball House, built in 1886 by Squire Daniel Kimball. On the right, the first driveway is (I believe) for the Barnacles (Lippincott family, I think), followed by the stone wall of Alderleigh. Electricity was added in Northeast in 1905. At the top of the hill on the right appears to be part of the transept of the stone St. Mary’s by the Sea, designed by Henry Vaughn, the second architect of the National Cathedral in Washington DC, in 1902."--Willie Granston, 2011
