Two young boys in swim trunks —probably brothers— sit on the front steps of a vacation cottage situated next to a beach on what is probably South Pond in Warren, Maine. Both boys gaze into the camera; the larger boy drapes his arm over the shoulders of the smaller boy. The cabin is fronted by a screened porch with dutch lap siding and open eaves. An older woman in a house dress and light colored canvas shoes sits cross-legged on a bench nearby, facing away from the boys and toward the pond. Other figures are visible nearby: a shirtless man and a woman in a skirt and blouse stand inside the screened porch, three children playing near a man and woman seated on a wooden bench at the shore. A long floating pier extends out into the pond in the background. The site is identified in the sleeve notes as Sandy Shores, Warren, Maine.
