SPIRIT OF '76
Built at Bruce Farrin's on Rutherford Island, South Bristol,Maine. Built by Bruce Farrin in an unusual arrangement whereby the builder and the owner had never met, nor had the owner seen the boat until he accepted delivery. Leo P. Davis of Cisco, Nantucket Island had selected Farrin from published reports about previous constructions. Not present at the launching, the boat was christened THE SPIRIT of '76 by Burce Farrin's mother-in-law Mrs Ralph C. Gray and given the name chosen by the Davis children. The 32 foot lobster boat type hull has a beam of 11 feet 2 inches and draws 42 inches.
