Whaling Nova Scotia
A launch tows a whale carcass to shore in New Harbor, Blandford, Nova Scotia, in September 1970. That day the 200 ft. Norwegian-built whaling ship THORARINN brought seven whales from the offshore fishing banks. Small boats conveyed the whales to Karl Karlsen & Co., Ltd., for processing. The plant was built in 1948 about 25 miles west of Halifax. 40 men and women were employed from June through November processing whales. Earlier in the year the plant processed seals.Launch towing whales ashore at Blandford, Nova Scotia, Canada whale processing plant .
