COPY: Captain John B. Crowley, born 1856 at Plymouth,Massachusetts. First command at age 21. By 11886 had his own 3 master. In 1887 had first 4 master. In 1900 he bought out George W.Wells' THOMAS W LAWSON. Found it too deep to load to full cargo of 11,000 tons except at Newport News, Virginia. Difficult to handle. LAWSON lost off Scully Islands, lost all hands except Capt. Dow and Engineer Edward L. Rowe of Wiscasset,Maine.
