Schooner VICTORY CHIMES

On the day VICTORY CHIMES left Rockland, Maine, in October 1985, this group was on the dock:(l-r) Janet Guild, her husband Captain Boyd Guild, new owner Ted Rosenthal from Minnesota, and Charles Cutter. One of 13 sailing rams built in the Chesapeake Bay area in the late 1890's and early 1900's, the VICTORY CHIMES was built at Bethel, Delaware in 1900. Launched as the EDWIN and MAUD, her first career was as a commercial cargo carrier. Renamed VICTORY CHIMES in 1954, she was brought to the coast of Maine to join the windjammer fleet. Captain Frederick Boyd Guild sailed her for 31 years, retiring at the age of 73, closing out a career that began as a second mate on a five masted schooner. In 1985 new owners Jerry J. Jubie and Ted Rosenthal took the VICTORY CHIMES to Lake Superior to continue her career as a cruise schooner. The Donimos Pizza company owned her for a few years. In 1991 she was sold to Captains Richard "Kip" Files and Paul DeGaeta and returned to Rockland, Maine. As of late 2022 she was in Rockland and on the market for $650,000. Her owner/captain is Sam Sikkema since 2019,
