Rockport Apprentice Shop

This picture was taken before the launch of the ROBERT H. BAKER at the Rockport Apprenticeshop, in Rockport, Maine, on August 7, 1985. Mrs. "Pete" Baker, widow of the designer and boat buider Robert H. Baker, reads a dedication. Bill Bishell of Baltimore, MD., is one of the apprentice builders of the new gaff-rigged sloop. The non-profit wooden boat school operated in Rockport, Maine, from 1982 to 1992. It was founded in Bath, Maine, in 1972. From 1992-1995 it was in Nobleboro and in 1995 moved to Rockland, Maine, where it continues in its 50th year in 2022.
