PROVINCETOWN

PROVINCETOWN was built at Harvey F. Gamage Yard at South Bristol, Maine, in 1973 for Bay State-Spray and Provincetown Steamship Co., Boston, MA. Among the people at the launching party April 5, 1973, were (from left) nautical historian and writer Edward Rowe Snow, the ship's designer John Gilbert of Boston, builder Harvey F. Gamage, and Lynn Gamage (hard hat), his son. The ship carried up to 600 passengers from Boston to Provincetown daily in the summer from 1973 to 1980.
