Launching LIBERTE at The Apprenticeshop in Rockport

This image shows the Bantry Bay gig LIBERTE being launched in icy Rockport Harbor, Maine, on January 25, 1986.  Dressed in national and nautical signal flags, the 38-foot vessel is slid down the ways by her builders, all students in the Rockport Apprenticeshop.

With the doors thrown open and the rails leading outward, Boutillier's composition vivdily captures the event's triumphant spirit of creation and birth.
