Schooner LILLIAN
Schooner LILLIAN tied up at McLoon’s Wharf. Schooner LILLIAN built in Boothbay in 1876. MVUS registered in 1942 to Donald P. Hurd of Boston for passenger carrying. Apparently the auxiliary engine was removed, and the vessel reclassified as sail. Thorndike & Hix lobster company sign next to McLoon’s on wharf building. There may have been a lag between when the switch got made and MVUS note. Put into the passenger carrying trade in 1940 by Captain Dayton Newton and his partner Donald Hurd.
