Schooner LYDIA M. WEBSTER

Schooner grounded out. View from starboard bow. Men working at stern. Yawlboat on beach in foreground. LYDIA M. WEBSTER was a 42 ton schooner built in Castine in 1882, and registered same in 1920. The LYDIA M. WEBSTER was chartered by Capt. Frank Swift from 1937-1938 for his nascent windjammer business, initially with Captain Ralph Gott. She was bought by Capt. Converse "Connie" Grant of Stockton in 1939. Eventually purchased by Swift in 1940. Possibly scuttled in 1946 off Mark Island. - contributed by Roderick Swift 2017 [included in the exhibit "Working Waterfronts"]
