Schooner LILLIAN

Schooner LILLIAN is becalmed in Rockland Harbor with her sails up. Man in dory is towing her. Artist Earle Barlow and his family lived aboard LILLIAN one winter in Lermonds Cove after their Friendship Sloop WITCHCRAFT foundered. Put into the passenger carrying trade in 1940 by Captain Dayton Newton and his partner Donald Hurd. "Frank Swift bought the Lillian from Hurd and Newton in the spring of 1944. She was in his fleet for several years." - contributed by Roderick Swift 2017
