Steam launch ADELAIDE of Rockland just offshore.
Steam launch ADELAIDE of Rockland just offshore. Launch is narrow, about 40 feet, with forward pilothouse, and roof over open deckhouse. On roof are several sizes of buoys or floats. At stern is hand operated windlass for paying out or hauling in lines. 4 men, 2 wearing neckties, are under the roof, a fifth is at the windlass, and a sixth is standing next to pilothouse. Notes on reverse suggest this may be a sounding/charting party using a leased launch. Note: this a copy from a glass plate, significant piece at lower left (of water) is broken off.
