ALBERT L. BUTLER

The three-masted schooner ALBERT L. BUTLER was wrecked at Cape Cod Race Point Lifeboat Station, at Provincetown, Mass., while on voyage from Jamaica to Boston, in the great storm of Nov. 1898. Three of the BUTLERÆs crewmembers froze to death after they climbed the rigging in an attempt to save themselves. The BUTLER was built in Thomaston, Maine in 1869. Note on reverse: Broken and aground on Peaked Hill Bars, Provincetown, Mass, fell victim to a raging storm during the height of the Portland Gale of Nov. 27, 1898. Three crew members took to the rigging during the storm and froze to death. She was bound from Jamaica to Boston with a cargo of logwood.
