Billards & Reception Room at Store
This view is of the reception room of R. H. Coombs & Son's (Robert Hudson Coombs and his son Charles R.) furniture store at 70-72 Main Street in Belfast. The store featured cameras and photographic supplies, drapery and upholstery fabrics as well as the furniture. Funeral and embalming services were available as well as taxidermy services. In this view one can see a billiards table, a piano as well as examples of the taxidermy services (the white-tailed deer, a red fox atop the piano and a pronghorn antelope above the billiards table). Also note that the hop has been retro-fitted with electrical light fixtures. In this view, Charles Coombs' wife Lena can be seen at the piano. The woman to whom Lena is speaking may be Kate, a person seen in other family photos. The gentleman to the far right appears to be Charles Coombs. One of the Coombs' dogs can be seen in the foreground (possibly Rex).
