View of two young women with Charles Coombs' boat LITTLE ELVA tied up at the dock adjacent to the boathouse ramp at Coombs' camp "Ten Oaks" on Tilden Pond in Belmont. Two more young people are swimming in the pond. The boy facing the shore looks like Charles' son Horace. LITTLE ELVA (16' 3/4" in length x 4' 3 - 1/4" beam x 2' 1- 1/2"Draft) is a wooden captain's gig built c.1881 by the carpenter of the CORA for Charles R. Coombs, the son of Captain Robert. H. Coombs. It is named for Elva Leith, the daughter of Cora Leith, Charles's sister in Bedford, England. Its carvings are by Captain Coombs. The settee is rigged. The hull is painted white with varnished wood trim.
