Tug BISMARK
Album: BISMARCK: Tugboat with unidentified naval vessel in background. Negative added to collection 12/2000 by William Abbott, who got it from Horace Coombs. Neg: BISMARCK One source notes that the BISMARCK outperformed and outclassed everything in sight for many years. She was the most popular Penobscot River tow boat of all time, indispensable for quick handling of numerous sailing vessels. A notable feature was the unfailing courtesy of her officers in answering shore salutes with her fine whistle. From Penobscot waters BISMARCK went to New York, joining the mighty fleet of 50 tugs owned by the Cornell Line. She was scrapped in 1926.
