Captain Paul York's Hampton fishing boat "The 31 x 9 ft.boat owned by Capt. Paul York of Portland, Me. heavily encased in ice. She has a 20-35 hp. Palmer motor, and a 12 ft, 1 ¼" diameter Monel Metal shaft." Captain York was one of the most successful small boat fishermen out of Portland bringing in cod winter and summer, and a favorite subject for photographer Alfred Elden. In those days, fishing grounds in Casco Bay, just off Portland provided a good living for inshore fresh fishermen. Published in Atlantic Fisherman in April 1937.
