Square Dancing 24
Ruohomaa's image looks down on a square dance trio who have joined hands and circle to the left. As an older man concentrates seriously on the dance, the woman he is holding hands with trades glances with a grinning man in the backgound. The setting is a room that has been decorated with pictures and Japanese paper lanterns. Other dancers, some of them talking and smoking, sit and watch from the sidelines.
In this improvised dance hall Kosti finds his preferred subject matter: the folkways of ordinary people at work and as here, at play.
