"Foot of Square Belfast, Me. 350 10-4-04-1" Street Scene, Buildings, Lamp, Telephone Poles, People, Horses, Carriages, Wagons, Sidewalks, Wooden, Bell Tower View of the intersection of Church & High Streets looking North from Northport Avenue. Located at what is known locally as the "Foot of the Square". Between High Street (on the right) and Church Street (on the left) is the James Patterson White house. Designed by Calvin Ryder and built in 1840 it is one of the state's finest examples of high Greek Revival architecture. White, a native of Belfast and a successful businessman, was born in 1800 and died in 1879. He served as Belfast's Mayor from 1861 to 1863 and a state senator from 1862 to 1863. White et al (1840 - 1884) George & Harriet Burkett (1884 - 1892) Dr. Everard & Ellen Wilson (1892 -1910) James P. & Millicent Jessie Taliaferro (1910 - 1926) Fred & Deborah Elizabeth Wagar (1926- 1936) Frank P. & Mary Wilson (1936 - 1960) A wagon and team of horses can be seen getting water at one of the city's many watering troughs. The walkway (residence unseen) at the right is the Bradbury home, residence of Charles & Alma Bradbury. The Bradbury family opened the Bradbury Memorial Hospital on High Street in what was the Cottrell family home. Mrs. Bradbury was a Cottrell.
