Cottages at Swans Island Me. 92.

"Cottages at Swans Island Me. 92." Cottages, Buildings, Residences, Lawn, People, Children, Girls These cottages lay behind the waterfront area known as Bill Sprague's Wharf, a.k.a. Barter's Wharf or the Swan's Island Fisherman's Co-op. On the left is The Boatel/Melvin Wiseman house, which at one time was a hotel owned by Steve and Verna Molnar. The house on the right was Dr. Hunt's house, but has since been torn down. Behind the cottages is the Harbor Road, and the Myra and Frank Bridges home can be seen between the two houses. The two little girls in the photo show up in several other photos of Swans Island, and probably followed the Eastern Illustrating photographer while he made his way around the island. While the photo was obviously taken in late spring or early summer, the large piles of stove wood make it clear that winter is never too far away.
