Two by Twice + Then Some, Stonington Me. 15a.
"Two by Twice + Then Some, Stonington Me. 15a." Image shows several buildings on the north side of Main Street in the business district of Stonington. At the far left the back of the pharmacy is visible. Two mansard-roofed buildings come next. The first is set back from the street. The next one, painted a light color, with a tall antenna, was known as the "Sunset House" boarding house. This was likely the home of many workers in the fishing and granite industries. The darker building with the porch bears a sign indicating it was used partly as the Knights of Pythian Hall (probably upstairs); apparently the "Deer Isle Laundry" operated on the ground floor. Beside this is a tiny, hip-roofed cigar shop. A man in a dark suit stands just outside. A new sidewalk runs along the north side of the unpaved street in front of granite ledges. It is not clear what the title refers to.
