American West lantern slides
Canvas covered wooden box with leather handles and strap made by Powhatan Robinson in New York c. 1910 containing sixty lantern slides made by W.I. Starr in New York c. 1910 and G.L. Nichols in Chicago c. 1920. Scenes of the American West. White edged slides made by: "Nichols Slides/ Chicago // G.L. Nichols, 143 N. Wabash Ave., Chicago". Black edged slides made by: "Slide made by W.I. STARR, New York. [red star]". Sticker on box: "Powhatan Robinson / New York" makers mark: backwards P and R in a circle. Slides and accompanying projector found in house being renovated in Bangor area.
