Clothing, footwear: One pair of Chinese boy's shoes
Clothing, footwear: One pair of Chinese boy's shoes Red leather with turned up toes and decorated around the heels and toes. Donor's grandfather, William Prescott Spaulding, was in the merchant marine and went many times to China. He brought back these shoes around 1904. Dr. Gan Xu at the Maine College of Art believes they have significant value and should be in a museum. They were little boy's shoes as they have metal cleats on the bottom of them. Little boys in China were allowed to make noise but not little girls.
