Textile, clothing: Chinese coat, tan
This ivory silk coat was originally purchased in Canton, China by Emma Jemima Bartol in May of 1891. It bears the "Dragon Trademark of Sing, Fat & Co." The coat is made in Canton and is embroidered in delicate pastels with flowers and butterflies, a motif associated with youth. The buttons are brass lattice balls and loops for enclosures. The borders are embroidered with gold and ivory scroll designs.
