Tender for the yacht FISH HAWK
10' x 49" wooden tender to the yacht FISH HAWK. Built c. 1902, probably by Lawley, Neponset, MA. Owned by the Saltonstall family of Boston. The tender came with the yacht FISH HAWK when the donor's family acquired it in the early 1920s. Family doesn't know more than that of its history. FISH HAWK was built in 1902 by the George F. Lawley Co. of Neponset, MA. Tender has three seats with two rowing stations. Unrestored as found. Wood interior and exterior. This Fish Hawk was acquired from Henry C. Cabot about 1920. She was a 50' yawl built in 1902 by Lawley, original name Ouial. As the Fish Hawks were replaced: a 1929 Alden/ Gamage schooner, then a 62' Alden / Goudy and Stevens cutter in 1937, they kept the tender. The tender has Lawley characteristics, notably the metal breast hook; later Lawley tenders used more metal.
