Model, full: 3 masted schooner w/ white hull and sails, LILLIAN
66 x 47" ship model of schooner LILLIAN. Three-masted, full rigged schooner with white hull and sails. Sailing model with metal keel. Accurate as to scale and details, but simplified as most pond models. Model has a name painted on the quarter bulwark rail "Lillian." Hatches are removable and show that the hull is carved and hollowed out, seemingly from a single block of wood. No visible seams. Deck is scribed, not laid. The poop is one piece; the main and fo'csle deck from two pieces each, joined along the centerboard. Masts appear to be spruce, hull pine. Nicely rounded transom with detailed decoration made from tooled metal, nicely done an most unusual. Has a carved yawl boat on stern davits. Nicely carved windlass and figurehead. Windows cut into main cabin. Metal mast hoops. Rigging seems to be hard twisted "Cuttyhunk" fishing line. Colors: Bottom, red; hull, white; spars, natural; tops and doublings, white; rails, green; hatch cover, blue trim; transom dark. Yawl boat: colors match vessel: interior blue; thwarts, white.
