Alamoosook Lake boat, flat bottom dory skiff
11' 6.5" L x 4' 1" beam. Flat-bottomed, longitudinally planked dory skiff with two plank sides built by Adderson C. Little (1847-1899) of Bucksport c.1880. Little was a ships carpenter and house builder from Bucksport, ME. Used at the Little family camp on Lake Alamoosook. Planking possibly yellow pine, frames possibly elm. Transom altered perhaps to allow for an outboard motor. Gray interior and exterior. Has a flat bottom like a dory, with an upturned bow, only 2 lapstrakes. Unique long, narrow bow. Longitudinal plank bottom. Natural crook knees. Note that photos in file do not match the boat described above. 2003: speculation that photos represent a yawl boat owned by the same donor that was never acquired by the museum.
