Penobscot 18' Birchbark canoe

This object came to PMM via the Abbe Museum.18' L x 37.5" beam. 19th century birchbark canoe. Ends have split open. Thwarts not attached.The canoe was given to Charles Carrol Clough by a family of Penobscot Indians who used to summer on Clough's shore (just outside of Blue Hill harbor on the SE shore, before Blue Hill falls and the salt pond).
