Sail Plan Book of Carleton, Norwood & Co. , c 1892. Large, canvas-covered sketchbook containing plans for fourteen sets of sails produced by the Carleton, Norwood & Co. sail loft in Rockland, Maine, in the early 1890s. The book includes plans for schooners, barks, and barkentines, some under construction at the Carleton, Norwood yard and others owned by third parties, ranging from approximately 60 to 200 feet in length. Plans include dimensions and shape of sails, drawn as they would be rigged on the vessel. For some vessels, there are several different iterations of a proposed sail plan.
