David W. Kane Notebook

Notebook kept by David W. Kane containing a list of vessels built in Searsport, Maine that Kane compiled as a schoolboy in 1883. Kane included the name, rig, year built, tonnage, and eventual sale or wreck of each vessel, and continued to updated his list until 1906. The book also includes lists of ships commanded by Searsport captains, compiled in 1888, on loose-leaf paper. The remainder of the volume has fragmentary notes by David W. Kane, including comments on other Searsport children, notes on the movements of a few Searsport ships, and page headings (not filled in) with names of foreign countries.
