Account Book for the Brig PRINCETON
Account book for the brig PRINCETON of Brooklin, Maine, kept by Captain Julius C. Wells between 1854 and 1870. Most of the earlier voyages recorded in this volume included at least one stop in the West Indies, but after the outbreak of the Civil War, Wells mostly limited the PRINCETON's business to ports on the U.S. east coast between Maine and the Chesapeake. The account book lists the PRINCETON's income and expenses for each port of call in summary form. Most entries are for routine matters like pilotage, towing, stores, and freight handling.
