Fishing log of the schooner HELEN MARIA
Log-book of the fishing schooner HELEN MARIA of Cape Porpoise, Kennebunk, Maine, kept by Captain Elbridge M. Hodgdon for a trip to Newfoundland in 1854. The book contains a record of how many fish were caught by each member of the crew, as required to claim the cod bounty, as well as Hodgdon's descriptive narrative of weather, sailing conditions, and activites each day.
