Martha Jane Fowler Ross Account Book
Bound ledger containing accounts for bonds, mortgages, and other investments held by Martha J. Ross from 1887 to 1902. Most of the mortgages are accounts with individuals in Iowa and Illinois; the bonds are from cities and companies across the United States. Several accounts list Ross's accounts and financial transactions with her children. An index occupies the first few pages. The volume is covered in brown paper, labeled "Martha J. Ross" in red and black ink. Several loose pages were tucked into the ledger. A few were evidently taken from a daybook that Martha J. Ross kept for her investments. There are also several sheets for accounts with her children, and an inventory of the outstanding investments that passed to Martha's estate upon her death in 1901.
