USFC GRAMPUS Lobster and Fish Collection Log
Log-book for the United States Bureau of Fisheries' research vessel GRAMPUS, along with accounts of lobsters purchased for research, 1904-1914. The log-book covers three of the GRAMPUS's assignments: catching brood cod from Kittery Point, Maine, in the winter of 1904, gathering egg-bearing lobsters while based in Boothbay, Maine, in the summer of 1905, and a trip to investigate the Newfoundland herring fishery in the fall of 1905. The accounts list how many lobsters were purchased, towns where the purchases was made, the name of the lobster dealer, and the price paid. These accounts, undated, continue until approximately 1914.
