Journal of the Voyage from Callao towards Cork, Ship DIONE, A.M. Fales, Master
Log-book for the ship DIONE on a voyage from Callao to Cork in 1859 under the command of Arthur M. Fales. This is likely not the official log-book for the voyage, but a practice log kept by Frederic A. Robinson as a boy or junior mate. The book contains notes on weather, sail configurations, courses steered, and activities of the crew that would be found in an official log, as well as Robinson's comments on his own navigation skills. The last few pages contain Robinson's record of cargo unloaded at the end of the voyage, checked against records kept by the clerk and the mate.
