Ferdinand H. and Esther Park Pendleton Autograph Albums

Two autograph albums owned, respectively, by Captain Ferdinand H. Pendleton and his wife, Esther Park Pendleton, of Searsport, Maine. Ferdinand's album, bound in black leather, contains autographs dated between 1886 and 1893, most collected from fellow sea captains, consuls, and other acquaintances while he was sailing on the bark EMMA T. CROWELL. Esther's album, which has a floral needlework cover, contains autographs from school friends in Pittsfield, Maine and Waltham, Massachusetts; from friends and family in Searsport; and from sea captains and sea captains's wives that she met while on a voyage to Kobe, Japan, with her husband in 1889.
