Steamboat WESTPORT

WESTPORT and her twin SOUTHPORT were considered luxurious summer steamers, built in 1911 for the Bath, Maine, to Boothbay Harbor route. They were part of the Eastern Steamship Corp. fleet. They moved to Rockland in 1920, where they ran to Blue Hill and Northeast Harbor. WESTPORT ran winters in 1932-33 to Bar Harbor for J.T. MORSE, when the MORSE was laiid up. In 1934 she was under different owners, running to Block Island, RI. In 1950 she was doing daily fishing excursions from Boston. She burned during refit in New Jersey later in the 1950s.
