Steamboat PEMAQUID

PEMAQUID was a steel hull steam boat in the Maine Central Railroad fleet, running from Rockland to Bar Harbor, Maine, in the early 1900s. On September 8, 1915 she colided in the fog off Stonington with the older wooden steamboat J. T. MORSE. Later in her life she was owned by the Sound Steamship Lines, Inc., also known as the Block Island Line, in Rhode Island. For 10 years her route was from New London, CT., to Block Island. In 1950 she was in New York with a diesel engine. She also served at times on the Connecticut River, and at one time was named LONG ISLAND.
