Steamboat MERRYCONEAG
MERRYCONEAG was a 96 ft. steamboat that starterd work in Casco Bay for the Harpswell Steamboat Co. She was built in 1888 at East Deering, next to Portland, ME. In 1897 she was bought by Isaac Edson "Ed" Archibald of Thomaston, who offered service from Rockland to Portland with several boats. He sold her to Eastern Steamship Corp. in 1905 and she returned to Casco Bay. In 1913 she was a mobile post office for Orr's Island. She ended life in a fire in November 1918 at the Orr's Island dock. This picture shows her at Stonington, Maine.
