Steamboat GOV. DOUGLAS
GOV. DOUGLAS was small 56.6 ft. steamboat operating in the Georges River area of Midcoast Maine from the early 1900s until 1941 She was built in 1900 in Essex, MA, as a gasoline engine boat called EMPRESS. She was converted to steam and eventually had a diesel engine. Her last work was as a tanker in Casco Bay and she blew up in Portland Harbor.
