Steamboat AUCOCISCO
AUCOCISCO was a 117 ft. wooden steamboat that served Portland and Casco Bay from 1897 to 1952. She was built at the Nathan Dyer yard in South Portland in 1897 for the Harpswell Steamboat Co., which in 1907 merged with Casco Bay Lines. From 1942-45 she served the US Navy as a ferry boat in Portland and was called USS GREEN ISLAND. Aucocisco is the Abenaki word for Casco Bay.
