The 65' 0" schooner JANET MAY was designed by Philip Shelton and built by Shelton & Baman in 1984 at Milbridge, Maine Seen in this view is a lapstrake rowing skiff named DOVEKIE* and what appears to be one of the masts and a gaff or boom laying alongside. * The dovekie (Alle alle) is a small auk, the only member of the genus Alle. Alle is the Sami name of the long-tailed duck; it is onomatopoeic and imitates the call of the drake duck.
