Man in apron using block and tackle to bring lobster trap onto a dock. "16a Teddy Spurling finds that the lighter weight of the non-porous plastic traps makes them much easier to hoist by hand from the boat up to the pier at the end of the season. Wooden traps have soaked up about 10 pounds or more of water, and have accumulated slippery sea moss and sea grass, as well as sharp barnacles, which makes them harder to handle. A plastic trap tends to shed barnacles, sea moss and sea grass. Ordinarilly Capt. Spurling plans to return and come along side the pier at high tide, which makes it easier to pass the traps onto the pier without having to use a hand tackle." [no NF ref]
